Don’t surround a Great Dane with Chihuahuas – How to keep the A-Players in your organization

In my first podcast interview with Eric Herrenkohl, I asked him how a small business can find and hire “A-Players.” I also picked his brain on how high achieving employees can position themselves as “A-Players” to potential employers.

His insight was so revealing and potentially game changing for anyone who takes the time to listen. In today’s podcast interview, Eric tells me about how an organization can keep their “A-Players.”

What are “A-Players?” They’re the top performers in your organization; the people who are making the most sales, rocking their careers, and taking charge of their work and life. They are the people you wish you had 100 more of. Thing is, if you only have one A-Player on your team you are at great risk. Why? Because when the economy turns around, that A-Player is going to leave you. That’s right. Your shining star is going to find a brighter galaxy where she can learn to be better, faster, and stronger.

Job Search Experiment Update – Deadline Extended

I am officially extending the Job Search Website Experiment Deadline until January 31st, 2011.

Why? Because that is the deadline I have set for myself to land a new awesome job with an awesome business or organization. I’ve got some pretty sweet leads that I’m excited about pursuing.

Starting today, I am kicking my job search into high gear. Job searching is now my new full-time job. And I’m going to share my experiences with you every step of the way. I am doing this because I know there are plenty of you out there who are stressed, nervous, and fearful because you haven’t landed a job, you are afraid you will lose your job, or you feel “dead inside” or lacking in some way at your current job.
