I have never heard of Holstee. I didn’t know what they sold, did, or anything. Then, on Jenny Blake’s blog, she posted this most radical picture (which is spreading all over the interwebs). It is the Holstee Manifesto:
Besides the manifesto having a great message, the part I like most is that they encourage you to write your own. Talk about great marketing!
This whole thing reminds me of one of my favorite quotes (which I actually got from the tag on my tea bag once): “Inspiring others toward happiness will bring you happiness.”
This simple quote is, in my opinion, the key to success. People get so caught up in what they want for themselves. They forget that in order to get what they want, they must make their primary focus helping others get what they want. In the above quote, one can exchange the word “happiness” for wealth, comments, subscribers, or anything else you want in your life. Thing is, your heart needs to be in the right place. You can’t go around “helping” people with the idea that you have to get something in return. That is ineffective. But you will find that if you work to help and inspire people to receive and achieve those things they dream of, the world will reward you handsomely in more ways than you ever imagined.
So a giant congrats to Holstee for creating a positive and inspiring piece of marketing! And may we all enjoy good business and life karma as we find ways to serve our fellow man.

Absolutely LOVE the Holstee message. I can see that hanging on college dorm room walls everywhere in the near future. Word art rocks.
I’m really trying to embrace your message of doing good for others without expectations. Giving away my time to help others out has been hugely soul-lifting for me. Even when I am having a cruddy day, just giving those 20 minutes to someone else rather than switching on the TV or surfing the net is a game changer. The more I do, the better I feel. Making it a part of what I do on a daily basis will undoubtedly bring about some big shifts in opportunities for me.

“Service Above Self” is super therapeutic, Brett. Just be careful not to give everything away!
Thanks for the comment and the questions for the interviewees!
