About Kathleen Toomey
An ardent reader since early childhood and never without a book; Kathleen Toomey leveraged her background in engineering to begin a technical writing career. She contracted to high-tech firms working on and writing such notable projects as a user’s manual on computer emulation, an O&M manual using spread spectrum analysis for microwave security systems, collateral literature for one of the first integrated software manufacturers, and promotional literature for a national kick-off campaign in NYC.
In the late 1990′s Kathleen took time off from her technical career to travel the West Coast in a 32 foot motor home with her two dogs. She wrote a bimonthly column titled “Latitude Adjustments” for the Bellevue Daily Journal (Seattle,WA daily newspaper) about her travels, and a monthly column for a West Coast travel and adventure magazine. She also began to freelance her photo journalism work to other newspapers and magazines.
But in 2001 a car accident and subsequent head injury dramatically revamped her lifestyle placing her in jeopardy of never being able to explore “the wonder of it all” supposedly again. It is out of this tragedy that Kathleen’s writing changed and she began speaking out on the debilitating effects of undiagnosed head injuries and our thoughts “gone missing”. Kathleen now writes and does public speaking engagements to help others realize their greatest potential and ambitions.
Always the explorer, Kathleen continues her travels but in a newer 37 foot motor home driving the back-roads and by-ways to various locals depending on the season and the reason — giving rise to the abundant narrative for her “stories to tell”.
Kathleen’s home base is near family in Panhandle of Northern Idaho and friends in the Flathead Valley of Western Montana.
