Paddy Jane on the ASCAP Boat with Betty Jean at SXSW- March 2010

Every year during the day at SXSW in Austin, TX, Ralph hosts the ASCAP party barge.  God bless, Ralph and ASCAP!  Every year, I enjoy free beer and brunch and make some life changing connection.  This year, it was the beautiful, friendly, and pleasantly forward, Paddy Jane.

Who is Paddy Jane?  A free spirit.  A radio show host and producer.  A photographer.  An author.  A writer. A sex counselor.  A women who could not spend another day at work in a cubicle.  A woman with courage and creativity.  A woman full of passion, persistence, and the “take action and then more action” attitude that is required to succeed at fulfilling one’s dreams.

In this Love Your Work Life Interview, we ask her how she got her start, what it’s like being an independent radio show host, and how she managed to escape cubicle life forever.  She also gives us some insight and advice on how to succeed at fulfilling our dreams.

You had better believe we’ll be asking this beautiful ball of fire back on the show.  But for now, check out the audio interview above or download it to listen to on your way to work… and if you want a real burst of inspiration, listen to it in your cubicle!

About Sex, Outlaws, and Rock and Roll

Sex, Outlaws & Rock n’ Roll was in the making long before Paddy Jane knew she was going to live inside your boom box. The only issue published of her zine at the curious age of 14 was themed Sex Kittens & Guitars. After months of intensive sexual health training, she became a sexual health counselor for the Teen Sex Infoline while still a teenager herself. In her last year of high school, the horoscopes she wrote for the school paper were pulled for being too sexy for the Board of Ed.

When she started university, curiosity and radio love led her to her university station, where she started reporting on all things art, culture, and rock n’ roll. A chance meeting landed her a position at 1050 CHUM, archiving exclusive interviews with classic rockers, including John Lennon confessing he fell in love with Yoko ‘cause she’s him in drag and Brian Wilson describing what it was like to live for years in bed. Paddy Jane went on to produce CHUM FM’s club parties for years, where she honed her commercial chops while producing art shows on the side.

A late night of bubbly and complaints of the elusive big O, led Paddy Jane to teach her friends the technological & psychological art of experiencing multiple Os. Dropped jaws, overflowing laughter, and six successful g-spot discoveries later, Paddy Jane realized the need for these sex conversations to go live, and launched Sex, Outlaws & Rock n’ Roll.
